Hey friends!

Community Group. Life Group. Fellowship Group…The concept has various names depending on what church you go to or area you live in, but the idea is all the same. Doing life together.

For us it was Community Group.

I remember when our group leader (Hi Ryan!) first pitched the idea to a few of us during Sunday School class. We actually didn’t know him and his wife very well (Hi Arin!), but I was so excited about the idea. He said we want it to be group who does life together. I was hooked with that very sentence.

Husband and I are homebodies, we don’t necessarily look for opportunities to “meet new people.” We would be blissfully happy living on a deserted island all alone. But that changed when our group started. We realized how we could grow from literally doing life with other couples and families who had the same goals, aspirations, and intentions as us. Some of which were living a Biblical marriage, and learning more about Jesus and His ministry in hopes that one day we could live like Him.

So our group was born three summers ago.

In that time we said goodbye to a some friends, welcomed new ones, cried together, laughed together, grew our families (through births and adoptions!), and mourned together. Most importantly we shared faith. Faith in the Lord who can make the impossible possible.

A typical Wednesday night consisted of sharing a meal together and diving into the word to “chew it up!” (Hi Stephen!) But Wednesdays were not the only time we spent together during the week. We also had play dates with our babies, and would also see each other at church on Sundays. We also shared in birthdays, date nights (with an epic dance party!), random game nights, and we served our community together.

It was this sweet group of people who we were the most excited to share our pregnancy news with, and the segment of the video that I still watch over and over (they are the big group, second video clip in!) If you haven’t seen it you can watch it HERE!

However, with wanting to grow in the Lord, our group did just that. Our sweet little group has big goals to further His Kingdom. Some of which include church planting and growing a children’s ministry which take time. So the time had come to bid farewell to our community group as some want to assist with the church plant, and some want to stay rooted in our current church home. We of course are also moving. So the farewell felt so timely for me personally, as the thought of moving prior made my heart ache.

So here we are, moving forward. Excited for what’s to come. Excited for new beginnings. Excited to see what God does in our friend’s lives and for what He will do in ours!

Are you part of a community group or the like? Tell us your favorite part of doing life with others!

In His love,

Tamara
