Howdy yall!

By now you all know how much I love all things vintage! I am so delighted when I get an inquiry from a bride who is wanting to incorporate this into her wedding!

I am going to share with you some of my secrets that I have used throughout so many of our styled shoots that can so easily transfer into a larger scale Real-wedding!

Secret #1- First things first, lets talk furniture!

Most of my pieces I use, have been aquired from family, friends, estate sales, garage sales, and antique and junk stores! I have an ever growing inventory!

With most vintage weddings one notices they are quite ecclectic…meaning NOT matchy, matchy! Everything has its individual story and history, but when put together with other “like” pieces, what you get is a very cohesive look.

You can see secret #1 into our “Simply Southern” shoot with Sarah e. Evans Photography…We have 3 different types of chairs, and a large farmhouse wooden dining table!

Secret #2- All about the floral– picking out vintage type flowers for your floral!

Brides often get overwhelmed when they know the different types of floral that are available! That is why I usually ask them the style of their wedding and reception (modern, relaxed, formal, vintage, etc) That  can help your florist to know what design to work on for you!

Below are my favorites I enjoy designing with!

Flowers:                                                                                                                           Hydrangeas, I love hydrangeas, they can go with just about ANY style of wedding, but I really like to use them for my vintage weddings. From a single flower in a bug vase, to a huge centerpiece with many hydrangeas, mixed with other florals, they work…

Stock: Luckily these fragrant blooms come in many colors and they add just a small amount of height to arrangements!

Roses: the possibilities are endless with roses, they come in about a bagillion colors, and roses are a staple for most brides! They go with ANY style!

Peonies and Tulips are a couple more of my favorites as well!

For greenery: Seeded Eucolyptus,  I adore this little green leaf because it seems so lacy and dainty. It is the perfect greenery as it is more of a muted green and not that bright kelly green that so many of the others can be.

Eucolyptus: The “traditional” eucolyptus is recognized from dried floral arrangements, but when used fresh, it adds a nice vintage texture as well as a nice fragrance.

Hanging Amaranthus: Which is just plain fun!

For filler: Babys Breath, which is instantly recognized as feminine and sweet, but is also the perfect accessory to the other florals.

Side note to  secret #2 and precursor to #3…mix up your floral containers!

Use milk glass, mason jars, and old tins for a fun twist on a traditional container!

Secret #3: Accessories, it’s all about the details!

I have A LOT of vintage accessories, and seriously the possibilities are endless!  I love using vintage books, skeleton keys, milk glass, mason jars, vintage porcelain statuettes, door knobs, vintage picture frames, old windows, wooden ladders…you name it! Seriously You could probably go “shopping” in your parents and grandparents attic or sheds and find some fantastic stuff! And then its also fun to know that you are using items from family and that makes your wedding more personal!

All of these fantastic items can really be the icing on the cake to your wedding and make it 100% unique to You on YOUR special day!
