Happy Sunday lovelies!

Wow! What a way to start off 2013, print publications in both VIP and Weddings in Houston! I’m so blessed and grateful!

Today’s story is about our relationship with Weddings in Houston magazine! It starts about a year and half ago with simple enough curiosity about getting my name inside the glossy pages of Houston’s most prestigious wedding publication.

Preparing myself with the fact my “marketing dollars” probably wouldn’t cover an ad , I made an appointment anyway. The rep who was assigned to me was a sweet faced brunette girl who from the very beginning was incredibly supportive, and not in the “I wanna make a sale” way, but in a genuine and helpful way.

For whatever reason I felt that God was in the back of mind instructing me to trust Him and walk out on faith with the seemingly large investment. Luckily, I listened {of course with the smallest ad they produce, baby steps here…} but still my name would be in their magazine come January 2012.

I’m not sure what I expected to receive from the purchase of that ad, honestly it was probably just to see my ad in print, as shallow as that sounds. However, that was only the beginning.

First, after signing on the dotted line and making payment, I met with the publisher of the magazine…the PUBLISHER! She wanted to meet me, and allowed me to show her my work, my website, and explain “how I did things”, and in return gave me invaluable advice and guidance. The time that was given to me made a HUGE statement and only reassured me that I had made the correct choice!

Next, I attended their annual social, at the La Colombe D’ior in Houston, where I met much of the other staff that create the magazine! I since then have attended several other events they have hosted, and coming up in a couple weeks I will be doing my first I Do! Bridal Soiree with them at the Royal Sonesta (formerly the Intercontinental) January 27! Come see us!

Now, heres the real kicker… We all know I have a slight, but healthy obsession with magazines. I love my brides and what I do, but I would LOVE to work for a magazine and handle their “set styling” for editorial photo shoots! After expressing this to the Publisher, Radhika I was beyond excited to be invited to work alongside their longtime and very accomplished stylist Summar Salah. When I met her, I was in awe…but thats another story! Moral of the story, I got to assist with their big editorial shoot that consisted of a two-day whirlwind shoot held at the amazing Chateau Cocomar!

Here’s some of what we were blessed to help with!

Then If all that wasn’t enough, they even interviewed us for a story, quoted us in another, and used one of Archetype’s images from our “Literary Romance” shoot as the image for one of the stories! Well pick my peas yall! Make sure to get YOUR issue so you can read the full articles!

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the opportunity to know Radhika and the rest of the team at WIH.  I’ll never forget just a few months after that first social and first time meeting, the Vice President, Vik, approached me at a show where I was just “there to see if I could ever be in one of their shows”, he shook my hand, and called me by name. He remembered me. Are you kidding? I had to look dumbfounded!

This may sound silly, of course they should know their clients, and be able to converse with them, but for me someone knowing my name after only having met me once before and recognizing me in a crowd! This was huge to me, and once again confirmed that my “marketing” was in the right place.

I have no idea how they do it (at another event, their intern even knew me and knew what I did!). Maybe they make flashcards with people’s picture and business information on it!

All I know is that I have always been treated like one of their “big” clients, even though Im obviously not.

Now thats true customer service yall!

Until next time!

xoxo, Tamara
